Rowdy Roadie

Tonight is the night, it’s is the final show of this tour season, with the largest crowd to date. The concert is sold out and I want to give him a farewell he won’t soon forget. “Where would you like these, Miss?” Caught in my musings as I get Brent’s dressing room ready, I don’t hear the caterer come in.

“Right over there on the counter will be fine, thank you.”

“You’re welcome. If you need anything else, please let me know.”

He’s gone in a blink of an eye. I’m sure he’s mega busy too. Looking over my choices, I arrange the snacks on little farewell plates, and drinks are put in a tub of ice to be kept cold until after the show. I already made sure to get his favorite kind of beer. He’ll need plenty of liquid refreshment after singing for ninety minutes, and then he’ll need more as I carry out my plan.

A few days ago, I was cleaning out my attic and found a strange looking tea pot. As I dusted it off to see if it jostled any memories of my grandparent’s house, it actually began to bellow pink smoke. I dropped it in shock, the lid popped off, and a gorgeous genie appeared. Turns out it wasn’t a tea pot at all.

Stretching like a feline awoken from a nap in the sun, she chastised me for my clumsiness. After apologizing for my carelessness, she offered to grant me three wishes. My first wish was for a brand-new wardrobe. Being in the entertainment industry was sometimes hit or miss with steady paychecks and knowing the band was taking a break, who knew when I’d have the money for an update. My second wish was that the band continued to be successful and would re-hire me when they toured again. My third wish was for Brent to finally give into his feelings for me instead of fighting them.

I know most people don’t recommend mixing business with pleasure, but who better to understand life on the road than someone who lives it day in and day out? And it’s not like I’d be forever wondering if he was cheating on me while I was sitting at home and he was out touring. I would be right there waiting, ready and willing. That’s what ruins so many musicians’ relationships. Their significant other is at home twiddling their thumbs while the band member is out doing who knows what with who knows who.

I’ve seen the way he looks at me, he tries to hide it, and maybe he does from the band members, but he can’t pull one over on me, his personal assistant. I make sure he has everything he wants and needs at any given time, so now it’s time to give him what he yearns for.

“Stupid ass traffic! Don’t those idiots know how to drive?” The man of my musings stalks in, looking disheveled and fuming.

“As you so fondly say, they got their licenses as a prize out of a cereal box.
